mikeMike Barger was almost sidelined early on in his career in tree care. After graduating from Michigan Tech with a degree in forestry, he went to work for a local tree care company, where he had an accident serious enough to make him leave the field for a time. But he returned to his forestry roots and, in 1984, he founded his own company, Mike’s Tree Surgeons, Inc. in Troy, Michigan.

“My wife, Denise, and I started out of our backyard,” Barger says. She handled the office details and his younger brother helped out.
