The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) recently issued new Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) regulations that take effect on Friday, March 8, 2013.
The FMLA entitles eligible employees of covered employers to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons with continuation of group health insurance coverage under the same terms and conditions as if the employee had not taken leave. Most of the new regulations relate to the FMLA's military leave provisions and make other minor changes and clarifications. The regulations also require covered employers to post a new, updated poster by Friday, March 8, 2013.
The new poster is available on the DOL's website here.
A side-by-side comparison of the prior regulations and the new regulations can be found on the DOL's website here.
