In an effort to directly engage our member companies and the tree care community, TCIA hired several Regional Outreach Coordinators (ROCs) this year. These organizers, who are veterans of the tree care industry, are stationed across the country to help facilitate connections and increase participation in TCIA programs.
Roundtables, Networking, and More!
Recently, our Midwest Regional Coordinator, Peggy Drescher, organized a successful roundtable in New Berlin, Wisconsin, featuring speaker Jim Lutz (Compliance Assistance Specialist from the Milwaukee Area OSHA).
Other roundtable participants included representatives from: American Tree Experts, Hoppe Tree Service, Wachtel Tree Science, Buckley Tree Service, Dudek Tree Service, M&M Tree Service, Asplundh, Davey Tree, Milwaukee Area Tech. College, D.W.G. Co., We Energies, Capital City Tree Experts and ArboRisk. A total of 17 people attended, and the municipal, commercial and utility sectors were all represented.
The presentation drew many questions from the audience about OSHA’s regulations and their effects on the tree care industry. This knowledge gap is one of the many reasons we recommend TCIA membership; we’ll make sure your company is ANSI compliant and help you avoid hefty violation fees!
Jim also informed the audience about the new Hazard Communication Standard; What could bring OSHA to a job site; Frequently Cited Violations and provided information about the new Tree Trimming Emphasis Program.
Future ROC events will touch on similar topics, and are open to anyone and everyone involved in the tree care industry.
Who is your Regional Outreach Coordinator?
Our Regional Outreach Coordinator program is growing, and we currently has representatives managing the New England, Great Lakes, Midwest, Southeast and Southern regions of the country.
