The name Emerald Necklace refers to the way the planned chain appears to hang from the "neck" of the Boston peninsula.
Member companies spent the day clearing out deadwood and overgrown trees, working to enhance the view of Jamaica Pond and improve safety in this high-traffic park.
“So many people use this area,” said Kaija Schilde, a Jamaica Plain resident who stopped to watch the action. “It’s great to see these companies doing all this work!”
The tree care companies were just as thrilled with the day’s events. “Volunteering is part of our business, our industry,” says Bob Kelly of Arborway Tree Care, Inc. in Jamaica Plain. “We give back to the local community and we show the community what we can do. It’s a win-win.”
Thanks to all our member companies around the country who worked to clean up their local parks, schools, and other locations!
