Boulder Business Owner Joins Board of National Trade Association

LONDONDERRY, NH - The Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), the national trade association for commercial and utility tree care companies, has appointed Joshua Morin, CTSP to the TCIA Board of Directors. Morin is the co-owner and managing partner of Taddiken Tree Company, a TCIA-member company located in Boulder, Colorado.

Morin's volunteer experience has deep roots. He volunteered with the Peace Corps in Nepal working on soil conservation, forestry and environmental education projects from1999-2001. For over a decade he has supported annual Peace Corps Days, delivering educational talks to groups of students in local middle and high schools on his experience in The Peace Corps and as a professional arborist. He has also coordinated tree climbing and arboriculture trainings, tree planting projects, and consults locally on various projects for his local community in Niwot Colorado.

“Josh brings strategic planning expertise to the table,” said Mark Garvin, president and CEO of TCIA. “He represents a younger generation within the industry, but has a well-rounded perspective and diverse background. He will help ensure our board moves in the right direction with sound strategy.”

When asked why he wanted to become a TCIA board member, Morin said, “I’m excited to join the board and work with a team of industry peers to advance the tree care industry. Ultimately, it is the members of an organization that compel it to greatness. I hope to contribute and serve in this capacity.”

A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Forestry, Morin has been involved in the tree care industry for over 16 years. He worked for Bartlett Tree Experts Mid Atlantic division for 10 years and was recognized with the Rookie of the Year award (2005) and Most Improved Arborist of the Year (2009) awards. During that time, he received the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow by the Baltimore Rotary Club (2006) for his support of local tree planting projects. Morin is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist and Certified Tree Care Safety Professional. He is active on TCIA’s workforce development initiative in Colorado, working to find ways to attract people to careers in arboriculture.

TCIA's board is elected by the members to set policy and the strategic direction of the association, which provides safety and educational programs, meetings, publications and guidelines for tree care companies.
Morin’s term on the TCIA Board of Directors began early February 2018, when he was sworn in at TCIA’s annual Winter Management Conference. Morin hopes to ensure that the board makes choices and decisions that support TCIA’s objectives and goals.
