Friday - Saturday, April 26, 2013 - April 27, 2013
Arborwear is once again hosting a spring training event, providing vital, documented safety training for tree care professionals:
Chipper Operator Safety Workshop
Friday April 26 (1 - 5 PM)
Presenter: Odis Sisk
This workshop uses TCIA’s Tree Care Academy Chipper Operator Specialist training program to train tree care employees in hazards as well as accepted practices for brush chipper operation and other associated tasks. The training program, built for crew members who often do not receive formal training opportunities, will increase employee involvement with overall safety compliance and self-policing.
This training provides the tree worker with the opportunity to earn a nationally recognized credential. The workshop includes both lecture-style training (videos & discussion) and field training (brush chipper and chipper winch set-up, operation, inspection, and troubleshooting/field maintenance). Participants receive a "Chipper Operator Specialist" enrollment and manual.
Once a candidate has completed the workshop and gone through the manual, TCIA will grade the exam and issue a certificate of completion, as well as a laminated wallet card, arm patch and helmet decal. Candidates’ transcripts are maintained in the TCIA database, and they receive on-demand notification of transcript status via TCIA’s toll free number.
Chipper Operator Specialist workshops are made possible with the support and assistance of Altec Industries, Inc., Bandit Industries, Morbark, Inc. and Vermeer. Space is limited, please register for this workshop by contacting Brittany Burnett at email@example.com or 440-543-3300.
Chainsaw Safety & Cutting Techniques Workshop
Saturday, April 27(10AM - Noon & 1 -3 PM)

This course is designed to educate personnel who use a chainsaw about safety, maintenance, use and handling. Participants will gain an understanding in what contributed to accidents and how to avoid them. Hands on and practical work planning strategies will be coached and practiced in this course. There is a strong focus on personal safety, risk assessment and accident prevention. Training workers and developing skills that reduce variables and mitigate risks associated with chainsaws and cutting techniques is the general theme of this course. Space is limited, please register for this workshop by contacting Brittany Burnett at firstname.lastname@example.org or 440-543-3300.
A TCIA representative will be on hand Friday afternoon to discuss the association. Also, learn more about OSHA compliance from an on-site OSHA compliance specialist.
Attendees can also enjoy end of winter specials and make room for new 2013 products at the Arborwear shop. Plus, get a free seedling (with purchase), while they last. Warehouse sale hours are Friday 6AM - 8PM and Saturday 9AM - 4PM. And don't miss the Crawfish Boil on Friday April 26, kicking off at noon and lasting ‘til they run out! View the event flyer here.
