Become a Qualified Plant Health Care Technician TCIA attended New England Grows 2014 last week, where we had the opportunity to mingle with over 13,000 green industry professionals and showcase our brand-new products in our exhibitor booth.

The largest and most popular horticultural and green industry event in the Northeast, New England Grows is known for its progressive educational conference and world-class tradeshow. This year, TCIA was proud to be a part of that program not only as exhibitors, but as the host of the educational session, "Become a Qualified Plant Health Care Technician."

This presentation, delivered by Tchukki Andersen, BCMA, CTSP and TCIA staff arborist, discussed how the newest module of TCIA's Tree Care Academy Training Program would be an integral educational module to help Plant Health Care Technicians advance their profession.

Andersen reviewed the program outline and purpose, took questions from the audience, and explained the qualification criteria required for the program.

"Many homeowners would like the option of retaining a tree rather than removing it, and if you and your crew are skilled at plant health care practices, then you can retain that consumer as well as their valued trees and shrubs.

The PHC Technician Training Module teaches the motivated learner the plant health skills that will assure them a front row in the mindset of a long-term customer," Andersen added.
