Foxboro Business Owner Maintaining Family Legacy as Chair of Board of National Trade Association

LONDONDERRY, NH - The Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), the national trade association for commercial and utility tree care companies, has sworn in Andrew W. Felix as chair of the TCIA Board of Directors. Felix is the founder and president of Tree Tech, Inc., a TCIA-accredited member company located in Foxboro, Massachusetts.

Felix’s ties to the industry run deep – his late father, Robert Felix, ran his own successful tree care business on Long Island, New York, before leaving it behind to take over management of TCIA (then the National Arborist Association), which he led for more than two decades. Having grown up in a tree care family, Felix continued the family tradition.

“Andy is an engaged member of the tree care industry, and TCIA is thrilled that he will spend the next year focusing on workforce development, technology and membership growth,” said Mark Garvin, president and CEO of TCIA. “However, Andy is also tasked with overseeing a smooth transition for our new, incoming CEO. Considering Andy’s long history with TCIA, we can’t think of anyone better to oversee this transition.”

In a speech Felix recently gave at TCIA’s Winter Management Conference in Maui, Hawaii, he said, “I’d like to repeat how proud and impressed my father would be and my mother, Pat, is now of this organization. It is beyond comprehension what we have accomplished. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of it.”

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Felix worked for Bartlett Tree Experts before establishing Tree Tech, Inc. in 1986. Felix is a strong proponent of giving back to the industry. In addition to his involvement with TCIA as a member of its Accreditation Council and Z133 Standards Committee, Felix is a past president of the Massachusetts Arborists Association, New England Grows and the Foxboro Lacrosse Association, and a past Director of the Massachusetts Tree Wardens and Foresters Association.

TCIA's Board is elected by the members to set policy and the strategic direction of the association, which provides safety and educational programs, meetings, publications and guidelines for tree care companies.

Felix’s term as chair on the TCIA Board of Directors began early February 2018, when he was sworn in at TCIA’s annual Winter Management Conference. Alongside his fellow Board members, Felix wants to keep TCIA focused on the mission of advancing commercial tree businesses and following through on transforming the tree care industry.
