TCIA’s Tree Care Academy Chain Saw Specialist course is designed to train tree care workers in hazards, as well as accepted practices for chain saw operation and other associated tasks.
The course, which is built for crew members who often do not receive formal training opportunities, will increase employee involvement with overall safety compliance and self-policing.
TCIA was recently awarded a federal grant in the amount of $137,532 from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
The grant, SH29645SH6, was awarded through the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program, which provides funding for nonprofit organizations to conduct in-person, hands-on training and educational programs for employers and workers on the recognition, avoidance and prevention of safety and health hazards in their workplaces.
These select workshops financed 100 percent through federal funds, will be offered to affected employees and owners of small businesses, including limited-English, low-literacy and hard-to-reach workers.
The funded workshop is 9:00am - 1:00pm. Optional product demonstrations are 1:00pm-3:00pm. No grant funds were expended for the optional product demonstrations.
